BioComb Distributed Wastewater Treatment Solution
BioComb (Bioreactor-Clarifier Combo) is a high-end compact integrated wastewater treatment system developed by BHT Environ for small or mobile distributed wastewater treatment plant team based on experience in biochemical treatment in the US and Europe. With all equipment installed in a standard container, the system can be easily transferred, featuring low energy consumption, small footprint, easy operation, high standard of discharged water and various options. The water discharged from BioComb systems may meet levels 1B or 1A (or A+) defined in GB18918-2002 Pollutant Discharge Standard of Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants while consuming power of 0.1 – 0.2 kWh per tonne of water discharged. Models with discharged water quality at the quasi-category 4 surface water may be developed for specific projects as necessary.
Applications:
Communities, rural areas, freeway service areas, outskirt villas, sanatoriums, military zones, schools, hotels, etc. with of population less than 10,000 people;
Treatment of point sources along river courses and polluted water bodies;
Discharge of domestic sewage less than 2000m3/d;
Industrial or other wastewater with equivalent target pollutants;
All other small de-centralized or distributed wastewater treatment stations.
BioComb Technology Overview
Biochemical reaction section
Process:
A/O-contact oxidation is combined with high backflow air lifting technology. Section A features air mixing, HRT 1~3h, and high efficiency braided viscous filling, with specific surface area up to 800m3/m2, which is two times the regular one. Section O segment features German MAT technology, with oxygen filling efficiency more than 2 times the regular one, and HRT4~6h.
Nitrification liquid backflow: air lifting backflow, with backflow 400 - 800%, adjustable with flow rate of air lifting.
Built-in integrated operation room
An operation room is located at one end of container or as a separate small container, equipped with auxiliary equipment such as fans, water pumps, piping, valves and control systems and so on. A backup spare fan is provided.
Integrated filtering system
Form of filter: Mini fiber filter plate or static pressure sand filter.
Intelligent control cabinet
The container is equipped with a built-in operation room, a high protection class central control cabinet and imported core components used for power distribution and control of the whole system. Remote control modules are available empowered with Internet of Things and cloud platform.
Integrated disinfection system

Integrated electrolysis phosphorus removal system
Phosphorus is removed with aluminum ions or iron ions released by electrolysis, in place of the traditional way of adding chemicals.
Fabrication, installation and commissioning of BioComb systems
The entire BioComb system is made of SS400 weathering steel and housed in a standard container fully consistent with the ISO (International Shipping Organization) standard. While the construction features the advantages of convenient transportation and high strength, it is highly strong against corrosion. The system’s service life can reach up to 10~20 years depending on anticorrosion measures.
BioComb model selection
The treatment capacity is calculated based on the assumption water quality: COD=200mg/L; NH4+-N=20mg/L; TN=30mg/L; TP=5mg/L.
1. Buried types, non-standard dimensions and special designs are available by means of customization;
2. The indicated treatment capacity represents the maximum amount of water for 24 hours. The BioComb system is equipped with an automatic control the system, which controls the operation time due to considerations, such as tiered electricity rates.
3. The system is supplied with manuals of commission, maintenance and servicing.
Model designation:
For example, in BioComb-A/B-W-40HC1/2, A represents class 1A water quality; B represents class 1B water quality; W represents a wide container; 40 represents the container size; HC represents a high container; GC represents a standard container; 1/2 represents the specification.
Applications of BioComb systems
BioComb systems have been used in over 100 wastewater treatment projects in China and other countries, including the Guilinyang 6000m3/d River Course Point Source Treatment Project in Hainan, the Dingnan County Longtang Village Beautiful Countryside Wastewater Treatment Project in Guangxi, the Freeway Service Area Wastewater Treatment Project in Shandong. A wide range of equipment is available for meeting the requirements for different levels of water quality, such as class 1A, Class 1B and quasi-4 surface water. Its outstanding technological advantages, remarkable reduction of energy consumption and excellent quality of discharged water have been widely recognized at home and abroad.
